Nuweiba... Bedouin style !
If there is a place we like to go to relax when we need to, it's Nuweiba. Also in the Sinai Peninsula, Nuweiba is a costal town in the eastern part of Sinai, on the Gulf of Aqaba. Very far from what you can find in Sharm el Sheikh, Nuweiba offers Bedouin Style camps where you can rent cheap huts. A little bit north of the main city, you will pass Tarabin Village that has lots of camps like that on your way to Taba.
With my friends, we used to go to Harbi's place and Kum Kum Camp but I also went to another one that I forgot. They are offering the same accommodations and are always friendly. Some camps are a little bit more "advanced" and have electricity and air co in some kind of bungalow.
However, they idea when you go to Nuweiba is to forget about your comfort and stay on the beach, have sand in your crouch and stuff ! Forget about nightlife coz camps usually stop their generator around 9pm and use candles.
During the day, enjoy sunbathing, snorkeling around, play capoeira on the beach, train your bollas skills or go hike the mountains... Feel free to express yourself with whatever you like. Nuweiba has aspects that will seduce every human that wanna be closer to simplicity.
The bedouin style is a layback style. You take it easy. You drink shay badawi and their herbs if you like to. There are many little Bedouin areas for relaxation that have floor cushions and palm tree roofs. In this shared areas, you can plat taoula, play cards, chill out, read a book, watch the sea... and eat MAKLUBA (Maaluba مقلوبة) at night. If your camp offer that dish you must try it. The translation of its name is "upside down" because it is cooked in a huge pot and when the food is ready, they put a platter on top and flip it upside down. It usually has rice, eggplants and other veggies with chicken (or lamb).
At the end, Nuweiba is the best place to chill in Egypt !!!!
